Kate Spry is a sixty-five years young sheriff’s office volunteer with a heart of
gold and an infectious desire to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children.

Set in Pico Rivera, California, Temple’s story takes us through the backstreets and dredges of the Los Angeles area, exposing the underbelly of the drug and violence mentality.

When the teen center Kate established in honor of a young runaway is targeted by local gang members, Kate and her best buddy Mercy Flores dig their heels in to defend the teen center they've worked so hard to maintain. Kate recognizes the teens’ strong desire to fit in, to feel loved and to belong. She also knows if the kids can’t get that at home…they’ll risk everything to find it elsewhere. Kate is steadfast in her belief that the 'sins of the city' (or their forefathers) do not belong to the teens.
